Hi Ceci:

We are now back home and I wanted to thank you for all your help in making this a most successful trip.

I was thinking over the trip to give you some input. The hotels were just fine. The Marriott, Llao, LLao, and Explora being the tops. Puerto Varas & Punta Arenas hotels were OK - better than our last experience. The guides were all very good - the guide in Calafate was low on the list. I had to ask her to give us some information about the area etc.but Patricia in Buenos Aires was excellent. We were met at every airport which was great.

So, I have few negatives and only thanks to you for your help. I hope to arrange another trip with you again within the next 2 years. Possibly staying at Patagonia Camp instead of Explora (just from the expense point of view). Do you have input on this? Explora was terrific!

Hi Cecilia. Thank you for the information re Puerto Varas.
I am afraid my Husband became terribly ill with the flu, and we had to cut out holiday short and come home. The part we did not complete was the ferry from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt, the bus trip ( the one you mention) also the hotel at Puerto Montt. And the stay at Baroliche that I had booked. I thought now that I am at home, I would give you a quick run down on the hotels.
Claridge Hotel, Buenos Aires, centrally located, but not too sure if the air conditioning would coupe in summer. apart from that, great hotel.
Hotel Esplendor, El calafate, a small problem upon arrival, had a room looking over their garbage dump. I told them this was a " once in a life time trip, and I was bitterly disappointed at the room", they quickly found one with a view. Lennox Hotel Ushuaia, once, again great location.
The Boat Australis, we were just so fortunate on this the water was so flat, once again, great cabin. although at times the food a little disappointing. Punta Arenas, Dream's hotel, now this was really something to see, the view was wonderful, great appointments to the room,
Hosteria Lago Grey, Torres del Paine, This was the only hotel that was really not up to expectations. They did not turn the heating on until 2100 hours of a night, there was not hot water for a shower of a morning, and the old bedding was so heavy, you felt like you were in a flower press. The food in the restaurant was well below standard. The toilet also blocked in our room. this is where my husband took sick, and just could not get warm. Although the majority of the staff were helpful, there seems like major running problems that need to be addressed.

Puerto Natales, stayed at the Hotel Australis, once again a great hotel, wonderful location, the appointments to this hotel were great. This is such a pretty little town, and they are trying to do a lot to make it more attractive. Unfortunately we did not stop on Santiago, so I am not able to meet you and take you out for lunch, if you come to Sydney please let me know, and perhaps we could meet. You will have my niece contacting you about a trip in January, Lisa Dostine. and I did give your contact to a few people on the boat, they were most interested that, as I explained, the rooms are not any cheaper, but you do not pay the tax. Once again, thank you for all your hard work on my behalf at booking the hotels. They were all great, except for Hosteria Lago Grey.

Hi Ceci, did n´t your email before the Puerto Montt flight. Guide there terrific and we were upgraded moved to the colonos hotel across from the water . Wanted to let you know that all went well on our trip. Only problem was the hotel Nevada in Barlioche - they first gave us a very low standard 2 bed room.- small and dark with construction in back of hotel. We requested to be moved and they gave us a very nice room. It is a good location and the new room worked fine for us our 3 nights there. All the tours and guildes have gone very well. beautiful lakes. Tomorrow is our last day and we will be picked up by a guide and taken to the airport. Thank you for your help.

We are back in California with great remembrances and many photographs from our superb visit to Easter Island.  I, along with Carol and Dave, thank you very much for excellent, patient support which contributed much to our very successful journey.

All went well, except for some incidents with LAN.  Our Sunday flight out, after leaving some hours late, shuddered 30 minutes into the Pacific and returned to Santiago to be replaced by a new airplane. We finally arrived at about 1:00 local time and were promptly met with lais by the hotel. We recovered rapidly to a beautiful morning. The cancellation of our Saturday return flight in the end pleased us for we got an extra vacation day on fascinating Rapa Nui ----- and at LAN expense! We were very pleased with Hotel Taha Tai and would recommend it without any hesitancy. Our cabins were very new with ocean vistas, clean with excellent service, the food was tasty and the front desk consistently attentive and helpful.

This had nothing to do with your part of the trip, but, when they were leaving Lima to fly to Costa Rica, they were denied boarding because they needed yellow fever shots to enter from Peru.  They got the shot at the airport, but had already missed their flight, and ended up with an extra night in Lima.

Below are comments from Drew regarding the trip.
I'd say overall it was a great vacation.  Peru was great.....especially the ceviche!  Dan and I both felt that it was nice getting to explore Lima and Cusco without having to deal without a lot of crowds (besides downtown Lima at rush hour).  The tours you arranged for us were very good...we got a lot of personal attention and the guides were very knowledgeable.  One thing that was pretty cool that we did extra was the mountain biking tour that takes you through Moray and the Inca salt pans (pretty tough bike ride in those high elevations...but it was totally worth it and would reccommend it).  The lodgings for the whole trip were beautiful.

We are home and had a wonderful trip!!  Everything went as planned.  I wanted to let you know the two agencies you used were excellent. Christopher with ADS Mundo was super!!  He did a great job for us in Santiago.  Gateways on the Argentina end of the trip also did a superb job.  Everyone was always on time and took care of every need we had. Iguaçu Falls was an absolutely unbelievable sight to see.  We loved it!!  All three hotels were great.  We especially enjoyed Santiago Park Plaza and the Panoramic Hotel in Iguaçu. The Tango show was also outstanding!!

Ceci, we'll wait for the next time we go to Chile. We had a wonderful time, enjoyed everything, the food was excellent and above all since we were the only Americans and a few British tourists, the Brazilians seem to love your country the most. We stayed at the Galerias on San Antonio. Older hotel, they don't stop cleaning, the place was very nice. I had forgotten some medicine and I asked for a Pharmacia to the clerk at the hotel. He insisted and  went with me to the Pharmacia, to make things easier. You are lucky, you have good security, good food, beautiful scenery and above all else, nice people.
